Dr. Rachel Simmons
Assistant Professor in the Colleges of Letters and Sciences

Dr. Simmons is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Math and Natural Sciences.

Dr. Rachel Simmons obtained her PhD in Genetics from UC Davis in 2011. She completed postdoctoral fellowships and consulted for biotech companies before joining National University in 2014. She teaches a variety of courses in biology including nonmajors biology, which focuses on scientific literacy and communication. Her research includes using qualitative data and statistical analysis in education sciences, including measuring student responses to course changes and encouraging and evaluating student metacognition.
