NU Faculty Foundations: 4-Day Course on March 2-5, 2020


NU Faculty Foundations 

A four-day asynchronous course designed to support your teaching at National University.  

The NU Faculty Foundations course provides a thorough overview of the tools and skills you will use as you teach your courses here at National University. This online course is facilitated by a member of the Center for Innovation in Learning team within the Blackboard learning management system. Note: There are no required meetings or any other synchronous component for this course. 

Topics include: 

  • Digital readiness and technology support
  • Updating your course syllabus and outline
  • Posting announcements
  • Setting up the grade center, retention center, and online office hours
  • Grading student work
  • Managing special circumstances

Within the Faculty Foundations course, you will participate with your colleagues as a student and review job aids, videos, and best practices in teaching adult students. You will also have the opportunity to practice setting up and facilitating a course within your own personal Learning Lab workshop.  

This experience will be facilitated over four days and you can expect to spend approximately eight total hours to complete the Faculty Foundations course.
